Q: How can I make my curls defined, not frizzy, in humid weather?

A: First, know your nemesis…what is humidity? Moisture is humidity. Curly hair is naturally dry, therefore when in the humidity these quenching locks absorb moisture and expand, causing frizz. In order to combat frizz and tame your twirls on these steamy days, applying light moisturizing products are key!

Start by switching to a hydrating shampoo and conditioner. Try Moroccan Oil Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner. After conditioning and rinsing, define your curls by combing a generous amount of Moroccan Oil through damp strands, followed by a curl-enhancing cream. Unite ‘Boing’ is a best seller that puts a bounce in your hair…when working it’s magic it’s sure to put a bounce in your step that lasts all day too! Then scrunch with a towel and air dry or diffuse (don’t scrunch with your hands while drying, the oils from your hands will make the hair frizz more). Finish with one of our favorite anti-humidity hair spray; Keratin flex flow hairspray for a light hold, or KM session spray for a medium to strong hold.

Regardless, humidity or not, it is important to keep your coils hydrated all year around. When your hair loses moisture, it can become brittle, dull and lifeless. Apply the above recommendations to your daily hair care regimen and you will have runway ringlets everyday!
